From Sketch to Spotlight: An Artist’s Quest for Recognition
His heart was racing. He was perspiring with heavy breaths. Suddenly he woke up. He dimly lit the room. Pulled out a piece of canvas and next moment a masterpiece was taking shape with a charcoal in his hands.
Sharan – a 20 years old engineering drop-out, hunched over his canvas and painted instinctively.
Like many of us, Sharan had dreamt of becoming somebody his parents wouldn’t allow to be. Not to surprise, Sharan couldn’t do well in his studies and now he had to leave the college. Sharan always dreamed of sharing his art, of seeing his work framed on walls. Between the limits of x where x tends to zero, Sharan would see colors flying beyond horizons even in greyscale. Unfortunately, youngsters like Sharan get trapped in the conventional. But the path from a simple sketch to recognition felt like a distant dream – almost impossible in this life. This is the journey of just Sharan but of countless emerging artists—filled with hope, passion, waiting for someone will truly appreciate and support their work, someday!
Early Years of Struggle, Keeping Hopes Alive
Sharan himself never realised how much he was into creative arts. Sharan’s love for art was evident since his childhood, when teachers used to ask him draw diagrams on blackboard for teaching. He wasn’t the brightest, nor the most athletic, but hand him a pencil and a piece of paper, and he would narrate stories without words. While others saw doodles, he saw expressions of his deepest emotions. Years passed; doodles remained coming but nothing turned into monetary gains. People would come praise and leave. Passion alone doesn’t ensure survival. As he grew older, doubts crept in.
“Is art just a hobby? Can I really make a living from this?” he wondered, as he watched people praise famous names while comparing his work with peers.
The Roads Aren’t Smooth Like Canvas
Sharan was far from brutal truth that unless into limelight, it is difficult for an artist to make a decent living out of art. Like many budding artists, Sharan faced obstacles that made him question his path.
- The Struggle for Recognition
Many artists post their work online but beyond certain specific regulars, hardly anybody recognises their work. However, you can witness their work being stolen and used without much deserved credits and renumerations.
- The Financial Strain
Art supplies aren’t cheap, and neither is the cost of marketing an artist and his work. Every sale may appear like a small victory but long, dull days of lack of jobs, gigs make routine difficult. This forces many artists like me to drop art arena and quest for assured incomes.
- The Battle with Self-Doubt
External pressures from society, family are just the tip of the iceberg. Reals storms come from within; the voices inside one’s head.
“Maybe my work isn’t good enough,”
Days and months, sometimes even years pass by unnoticed, submissions get rejected. Many times, artist don’t get promised commission due to fraud buyers. The fear of failure looms over, tempting an artist to put his pencils down for good.
The Turning Point
One day, Sharan elborated me his whole struggle. There were many emerging stars like Sharan and it needed a permenant solution – a platform dedicated to emerging artists—Huesmith. were, his work won’t get lost in an algorithm; it would be seen, appreciated, and even purchased by those who believe in new talent.
For the first time, Sharan felt valued. He connected with buyers who saw the story in his art, who wanted a piece of his journey. A single sale turned into another, and then another. What once seemed impossible now felt real.
